I would like to put an independent front end in with disc brakes keeping original frame and weight capacity. also want 8 lug chevy.is there a donor truck year that fits.thanks the new guy on the block james b

I, for one, urge you to reconsider this change. That truck is too rare (and cool) in my opinion to alter in this way. If you want a more modern-handling vehicle, buy another truck which isn't so unique. Everyone needs at least two of these trucks just for this very reason.

I'll agree with Carl. Properly rebuilt, you may be surprised at just how well these trucks really drive.

yea my 52 one ton drives fine @ 65mph with the stock(rebuilt) front end. did put a 14 bolt rear in to go faster though. plus it is used as a truck, so a ifs wouldn't handle the weight anyway. my2 cents

is there any advantages to changing to 12 volt on my 1950 1 ton pickup or will 6 volt work fine james b ?
