1. Would I be able to get along without a booster and have adequate braking with the light use as described above?
2. If I were to install a boost system.....the old is costly to rebuild....how about installing some newer power brake that is easy to adapt to the present brake system. I'll bet some street rod folks have already discovered something that works.......I hope! | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy rviator, welcome, you could run the system without a booster, but that would make the pedal effort required to stop very heavy. There are kits out there to put boosted brakes in the stock location under the floor for the slightly newer trucks (1948 and newer), but I haven't seen such a kit for your year. Does you master cylinder mount to the side of the transmission and do your pedals mount to the bellhousing? | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 | For the cost of all the new stuff to convert your truck you could just rebuild what you have and drive it for another 50 years... I like it!. http://s1055.photobucket.com/user/baldybenny/library/ 1936 1.5 wrecker,1937 gmc coe,1939 Chevrolet coe,1942 4x4 coe, 1942 coe,1946 dump,1947 2 ton dump, another 1947 2 ton dump,1950 coe,1967 c30,1937 cat 22,1936 Chevrolet 5 window foremans coupe, 1914 ford speedster.

Thanks, | | | | Joined: Sep 2014 Posts: 4 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Sep 2014 Posts: 4 | Thanks......that is great to know. Am guessing that you don't find the brake pedal to difficult to push for a reasonable stopping ability....? Thanks.....!! | | | | Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 402 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 402 | pedal is no problem, even when I loaded the truck with dirt, ya, you know theres a load but not bad at all, my other 47 has a booster and it stops just as good as this truck with a tad easier pedal. http://s1055.photobucket.com/user/baldybenny/library/ 1936 1.5 wrecker,1937 gmc coe,1939 Chevrolet coe,1942 4x4 coe, 1942 coe,1946 dump,1947 2 ton dump, another 1947 2 ton dump,1950 coe,1967 c30,1937 cat 22,1936 Chevrolet 5 window foremans coupe, 1914 ford speedster.
