The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Replacement outer cowl panels

I am replacing the outer cowl panels on my 55.1 truck. The replacement panel is made by keyparts. I am having dificulty getting it to fit properly. The indentation at the top where the hood fits does not seem to be the same as original. I have spent a lot of time trying to get it to fit and not having luck. Should I try another brand? Which brands have been a better fit? Should cut the indentation an eeld in a piece of steel to have it match the existing indent.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. This is my first project doing bodywork myself so I am clueless.

it's unlikely you'll find any patch panel better, mostly all from the same offshore producer regardless of which distributors name is on the package, make any adjustments needed to suit your particular truck

When you get done with it and it fits perfectly, you get to brag to everyone that YOU did it. When I have replaced these less-than-perfect panels. I screwed them in place until final hood fitment was completed so that I could move them around if necessary, then welded them up.

Thanks for the idea of welding after everything fits. This is my daughters truck and I want to to come out nice.
