When I look for this part on the internet, some sites are calling it a 3.8 liter and others a 3.9 liter. Are there two, if so how do I know which one I have? some sites might round up and some sites might round down

Its funny, because if I tell the site I have a 3.8, they say the part wont work but if I say 3.9 it will fit. Have you any experience with the pointless ignition systems? | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | I have used a 12v and a 6v Pertronix unit in different 54 trucks. No problems. I do not think it provides noticeable extra power with a standard 216/235/261 engine. I'll use points in the two 6v 54 trucks we are restoring.

It would be interesting to see what performance might be gained from in HEI in stock 216/235/261.
I saw no performance difference using a Pertronix unit in my 270ci 261 with dual carburetors and dual exhaust. Most likely, I almost never rev the engine to over 3000 RPM (80 MPH).
I'll set/check points.

So I guess it would be more feasible to round up to 3.9. | | | | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,262 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,262 | | | |
