The work continues on my 55 that I inherited. The drivers side door rubs at the bottom when opened. I've tinkered with the bolts on the hinge mounted to the bottom of the door with negative results. I'm open to thoughts on how to repair this

Here's the video:

it's not "rubbing at the bottom", it's binding on the fender at the lower hinge .... the problem is the fender should be proud of the door like this, your door is proud of the fender, which will also cause more wind noise at speed .... and there's too wide a gap between fender and door

for detailed info on door adjustment see the manual, you may need some shims different places, including the fender mount points

Thanks Bill. Back when I had the problem with the latch, I attempted to adjust the bolts on the lower cab but to no avail. I'm going to work on the truck tomorrow afternoon and will try again. I had read the manual before but (Fig 23 "B") I couldn't get the lower bolts to move in or out. I'm also going to pick up some shims at the auto store and see if I can just move the lower fender out slightly.

getting the doors right on this series is never easy - sometimes near impossible .... you may find shifting the pillar side of that lower hinge takes having the bolts really loose and using a very persuasive pry bar

I used to complain about how hard it is to align doors on an AD, until I started noticing how every Task Force door that I have seen are horribly misfitting. Top, bottom, front, back, in, out. Makes me feel so much better about myself with my misfitting AD doors. All I try to do is make it just a little bit better than how they came from the factory, which is a very low bar.

GMTK- did you get the door issue fixed?

If you heard my driver-side door open, you'd think yours was the 'factory fresh' sound. My passenger side 55.2 door is fine...

Usage wear & tear, I guess.
