I've searched Ebay and Craigslist looking for used split rim 15" / 8 hole rims because I need two to get the rear wheels back to stock. I read Jim Carters page on this subject and others. The more I read, I start to become concerned for safety and the ability to get affordable tires. I read that there is an issue with clearance on the front wheels due to the tie rod clearance. What options are there that don't require changing the tie rod? How have you 3/4 ton owners solved this?

This topic comes up quite often. Here is one of the threads that has some answers for you. 8 lug wheels I use the modern 16" rims from the eighties and trailer wheels. I have modern 16" tubeless radials on mine and they work really well.

I have a 1948 3/4 ton and replaced the split rims with 8 lug 16 inch rims from etrailer. With radial tires 215/16. Those rims have a small amount of positive offset and on my truck clear the front tie rods by about 1/2 inch. I have driven it about 1000 miles without any problem .
