I just put a 40 dash in my 39, I liked the round dash better than the flat. Plus it was pretty beat up. Now Im looking for a gauge insert, any ideas where to find one? And is the 40-46 dash the same, as far as the gauge pod is concerned?

40-46 dash is the same. 40-46 GMC speedo and oil pressure gauge are different than Chevy.
Do you have an original tail light and mounting bracket on your 39 GMC ? Or pictures ?
Gauge inserts have been showing up on Ebay lately.

Rusty46, Looking for an aftermarketgauge panel for aftermarket gauges.

I may have the bracket, im not sure. will have to look through all the junk. I believe i remember taking it off but who knows what i did with it.

Here is a pic of where im at right now. But i need to do some cab pictures. both door skins have been replaced, firewall smoothed, huge hole in back of cab repaired, windshield opening preped for v butt glass.

only seen my grill in parts catalogs, mines damaged beyond repair.

ill get ahold of the digital camara at work this weekend and snap a few pictures of the cab.

I've never seen a 39-40 GMC reproduction grill.
Enlighten me please.

me niether rusty46, I picked up a 40 chevy nose piece complete minus the grill and top chrome piece. Looks like with a little modification prior to rechroming I will be able to use my original GMC piece above the grill. When I got the nose piece I expected that they would be compatable but the curve on the side pieces is a little different than my moulding. I want it to say GMC so Im going to try and modify mine.

wish my grill would have looked like that, mine had been hit pretty hard.

dolphin gauges.com makes a quad gauge insert
rhjonesco.com makes a five gauge insert
I had to file and sand just a little to get mine to slide in my 46.

lugnut, did u go with the dolphin or jones insert? All others I have found r the 5 gauge inserts. Kind of like the look of the dolphin setup.

The Jones is in the box on the shelf (it is nice and they did do a good job)but the dolphin is what is in the dash I think it looks nice, clean and smooth.

I want to 2nd the wowzer on your frame.
