I know I can dig and prod with an awl or other tool, but I don't want to deform the channel. I am thinking that there may be a way to soften the old seal that will make the removal less labor intensive. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 182 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 182 | Mine softened in the derusting tank (water + lye), but I still had to do some picking with an awl, carefully of course. They were rotten so they had very little tensile strength and couldn't be pulled out intact | | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 | I had to pick mine out, and I had to deform the channel a bit to get the new ones back in anyways... | | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 37 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 37 | Thanks, Sput and 46gmcpu for your advice. I always check with the pros when I'm charting new territory. On this one, looks like my initial course is confirmed. | | |
