8.8 Ford rear is 5 x 4.5" 1/2" fine thread

You could have the axles re-drilled for other patterns. Strange, Currie, those kind of folks will do that.

Many aftermarket wheels come with both Chevy and Ford patterns, so if you have not bought wheels, that is the easiest option.

I don't know what S-10 pattern is, but if it is typical Chevy they are 5 x 4.75" and the lugs are 7/16" fine thread.

Jeeps use the same lug pattern as the 8.8. Everything you probably want to know about the 8.8 at ww.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Explorer8_8.shtml

Other than the name and the lug pattern, the 8.8 with 31 spline axle from the Explorer is a nice cheap rear to consider for modernizing old Chevy trucks. Disc brakes, limited slip, friendly ratio of 3.73, and 3200 lb weight rating.

S10s are 5 x 4.75 with 12mm x 1.50 studs. If you want the real hot setup using an S10 rear, find one from a '98-'04 with the ZR2 off road package. It will have what amounts to a narrowed version of the 8.5" rear found in the '88-'98 full size 1/2 ton trucks, including most of the Z71 off road package trucks and SS454. They are wider than the standard 4x4 S10 by about 2", and have a very good rear disk brake setup.
