Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself and my project. My name is Trevor and i grew up in a small farming community in northern Alberta Canada. I started getting intrested in a classic restoration when i found an old 1952 2 ton a few months back. Recently I was sitting around having a beer and bbq with my dad and uncles and was listening to some old stories of my grandfather's old 1954 1 ton.....Long story short I immediately became more and more interested in a restoration project and went on the hunt for this truck. Few phone calls later I managed to find my grandfather's old truck not 2 miles from the original homestead. 30 years after my dad sold it our family friend still had it in his field. It took a little persuasion, but with the right components we made a horse trade and I am now in possession of my grandads old 54.
Cannot wait to post the million questions I will have during this frame off restoration.

Congrats on getting the family jewel back where you can restore it. There are many forums here on the bolt so be sure to try ask questions in the most correct forum....engine questions in Engine Forum, Driveline in Driveline forum for the best results. The restoration is a journey so enjoy it. We're here to answer what my seem like stupid questions and even listen to a rant when you need to rant, and offer encouragement when needed.

Thanks for the warm welcomes guys. Leo, the best I have been able to determine in the short period of time I have had it is that the truck is 100% original with only 77000 miles on it. I believe it has the 235cu.in engine judging from the serial numbers. I know the truck was built at the Oshawa plant but am unclear where the engine was manufactured. still learning about the history of this unit and any help is appreciated.

It to have a 9430 long box, 1952 version. If you want the build details you can go to the GM Heritage site and pay for a package containing info on your vehicle.

I have a 52 2 ton also in Barrhead AB area. It is a local truck but not from family. I did find my fathers 57 GMC 1 ton last week after it sold in the farm auction in 2006. I had requested my brother to bid on the truck for me at the time, he neglected to so now I am in the mist of negotiating on it from the second owner since then. Hope it goes well as I know how the ties to your truck feel.
