I bought mine from ClassicParts.com and they now have 3 full seasons (4500 miles) on them. They have not developed any rust front or back in that time. I need to qualify that by stating my truck is fair weather only.

Same as brad, but mine have been on nine years and 10k miles.
Only complaint that I've got with them is the end that they cut
off it cut with a plasma and they didn't deburr it before they
did the plating. Other than that they are an exact match to
the original one.

I bought a rear bumper, primed, from LMC. It is not as thick of metal as my OEM front bumper. After powder coating, it looked good. After a couple of months it showed bumps where it contacted the bumper brackets. It had formed like plastic. Had to straighten it out, repaint it, and grind down the corners on the brackets. Also spacing it out slightly with washers this time to make sure it doesn't contact the bracket edges.

GodIsGood, I've mentioned it before but I have bought several bumpers from Bills Speed Shop in Ohio. He has advertised in the Old Cars Weekly magazine for years and I decided to give him a call. I ordered one to check the quality and then ordered another one. Its as good as any I've seen and better than a lot of the others I ordered. His prices were much better to.

If you call him let it ring. He actually works in the shop and told me sometimes he just can't get to it....but he called me back.

For what years of truck? I have a set for 41-46 OEM. I put SS ones on from Chevs of the 40's. No complaints. They are slightly thinner than the OEM and not spring steel. Fit great look great. 1200.00 to replate the OEM and 800.00 for new SS. My OME are scratched and one small bend. Crazy what replating costs.

WOW! Great info and tips, really glad I found this forum! GW my 3/4T GMC is a 1950. I would be interested in yours if they'll fit??

Also, are there "rules" about adding bumper guards - even if they didnt originally come on truck?? I kinda like the look

I just got a rear bumper for my 1950 project from Jim Carters. I wanted something that would last forever, never rust out or have little rust holes in the plating which happens whenever you plate metal. So, polished stainless. You would swear its chrome. But the good news it isn't! I had to call them back and thank them for their service. You see, they sent me the wrong bumper on Friday. It was chrome and had a belt line to it. So I got it at 2pm and I called them and told them about it. At 11am on Saturday morning (the next day) FedEx shows up with a call ticket to pick up the wrong one, AND deliver the right one! I dunno how they even did it that quick. $374 in case you are curious. It will be the last bumper this vehicle ever needs. I am a real fan of stainless and use it for every fastener on the truck. If you do the math-over-time calculations, not sure its more expensive in the long run.

Careful with the "Chinese or replacement bumpers, I have stated in the past that I did not wanted to get caught dead in front of or behind one! They are made of tin foil and they are just look but DO NOT Touch! I have located Original front and rear bumpers for my 1 ton and will give up the chinese schit soon.
