Hey Stovebolters;
Trying to pull the doors off of my 1950 3800, took the six bolts that hold the hinge to the cab out (three each hinge), the hinge is somewhat loose but it won't come free. I'm pulling the passenger door first. Is there a trick to getting these doors off?

Twist left? Swing right? Sacrifice a goat to Khali Ma?

Thanks - Bruce

Got it figured out. The lower hinge pin had worked its way out of its socket, shifting upwards preventing the hinge from coming out of its pocket. This should be an easy one to figure out.

Thanks - Bruce

I always remove the doors from the hinges before removing the hinges from the hinge pillar. I have enough trouble removing just the hinge from the pillar. I can imagine that it is quite the task to do it with an unwieldy door attached to it.

I do it Carl's way - taking them off as he describes and putting them back on in reverse order.

As always the shop sharks show their wisdom. That was a much easier task after taking the doors off of the hinges. The one hinge with the popped-up pin is still stuck, but the other three are out and ready to be repaired. I seem to recall a Stovebolt article about a gentleman that repairs the hinges. I'll have to dig through the archives.

Thanks guys - Bruce

Here is the definitive how-to it is pretty satisfying and you will know everything you need to know about them when done.

Another tip you might want to try is where the hinge body goes back into the door frame I roto filed that opening a little larger. Much easier going back in and will prevent scraping your new paint off eventually.
