Hello all, I'm getting ready to install my rear fenders on my 48 Burb. When I got it the fenders where off. So the question is, was there a fender welt and if so what color?

There was NO welt on my 52 panel but there was a strip of what I refer to as sort of like roof felt. Its a asphalt/petroleum saturated type of paper....or that's my best description. It kept down the squeaks and to keep the water out.
As I mentioned above, I used the stuff earlier volkswagons used. Its flexible and won't look ugly in a few years.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

I think there was rear fender welt from the factory on 47-54 panel body trucks (no rear fender welt on pickups).

Tim, thanks for that link. How did I ever miss that? Mine just didn't have it so it must have been ripped or torn off but I put some back on it!!

Alvin,

I cannot find the rear fender welt specifically listed in the Master Parts Book, but the FAM is good enough documentation for me.
