It is confusing. I always like to study someones method before I do it. I would do a married set, probably 465/205. First I would like to know from someone who has done it, does the 205 reach out to obtain a straight or near straight driveshaft to front axle? I know the 205 can be clocked, I know I will have to provide the proper Ujoint/CV ends and figure a mounting scheme for 205. I hope someone can tell me on a 60-66/205 install, if the front shaft is inline. I also believe that the rear output of the 205 is centered the same as the T221. Can someone also verify that is true. I don't see any other problem I could not solve somehow, once I get a 205 and scope it all out. But don't want to start or buy without knowledge from members here. Maybe someone here has actually done it. Possibly ron.

I got my 205 out of a 72-73 ihc scout and when I did i took all of the mounting apparatus and between the two was pretty easy to install. I had a 205 out of a dodge also which was in better shape than the ihc one so I rebearing that and used the ihc yokes and that was it. it mounted in on the same angles as the t221
I would imagine that the mounting from a 1000 - 1200 ihc in those years would be the same. they may have had the 205 in a few years prior to that also. you may have to research that
if you can get a r/hand drop 205 case, I believe that you can take everything out of a l/hand drop t/c(eg. ford) and drop it in

I think I have read so much stuff that I am confused, so bear with me. I don't have the 1960 yet and I don't have a 205. It seems that when someone is talking IHC and Dodge they are talking divorced. So it seems like you are talking divorced? Also the Chevy 205 married TC 's are right hand drop (passenger). So I am thinking of a Chevy SM465/NP205 married combo because the K1000/T221/front axle is right hand drop also. Can you clarify your remarks in this vein? I don't see why IHC/DODGE/FORD/Left-To-Right parts swap?
Terms I'm using and what I think they mean. Right hand drop= front drive shaft/front axle pumpkin on Pass side. Divorced= TC not attached to trans but separate. Married=TC attaches, with adapter, directly to trans.

right side = passenger side =r/hand drop
drivers side = l/hand drop
ihc and dodge did a divorced r/side drop
ford did a divorced l/hand drop
you can take the guts out of a l/hand drop and put them in a r/hand drop or vs , but a complete l/hand - r/hand t/c will not interchange sides
your terms are the right ones
with the divorced t/c you can put what ever trans in front of it that you want
