on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 35 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 35 | I have a minor electrical issue with my 65 C60. Today I re did some wiring for the clearance lights that are mounted to the flatbed. I also re did the wiring for the brake lights and replaced the lights entirely. Had everything working perfectly. Had all the lights burning for well over an hour. I shut everything down, came back to it about a half hour later and now I have no tail or brake lights, no roof clearance/parking lamps, no bed clearance lamps and my instrument panel is out as well. The only things that work are the headlights, high and low, 4 way flashers, and turn signals. I checked around for loose wires and blown fuses but came up with no apparent issues there. Could it possibly be the headlamp switch acting up in someway? Though I don't know how that would affect the brake lamps. Everything was working fine one minute and then screwed up the next. Can anyone give me an idea as to where to start looking for the problem?

Maybe because so often that turns out to be the problem. Good luck, and let us know what you find. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,212 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,212 | What method did you use to check the fuse? Did you put a test light on both sides with it plugged in? Are these lights powered through the ignition switch? Is it turned 'on'? Did a wire come off the back of the headlight switch? Just throwing ideas out there... Mike B | | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 1,159 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 1,159 | Sounds like a ground issue to me,too. Did you purchase any wiring/light kits from Harbor Freight? I had the same thing happen to me today! I had a set of cargo lights already installed on my headache rack, and I bought 2 more (Farm store, but still Chinese) to tie in,as back-up lights,on the same switch,(for now).after I installed the "new" lights, they worked, but the headache mounted ones did not! after raising the bed,(easy access),I noticed that I had no continuity, where the H.F.(Chinese) wire was connected to a heavier gauge wire. It pulled out of the butt connector, which was also a heat-shrink connector! upon further inspection,it may have had 10 strands of copper,(at best),and you can easily pull the wire apart with your bare hands-insulation and all! I doubled-up on a heavier-gauge wire, crimped the butt-connector good and well, srunk tubed it,(even though the butt connector was heat shrink as well),and zip-tied it to some others,(A.A.W.)to relieve any stress. I pulled the switch, and Voila!! We have lights!! Hope this helps!
