The parts truck I bought came with 6 brand new Goodyear 8.25x20 mud and snows. I was going to just swap the 4 rears over to Barry. It turns out all 6 are on the Firestone two piece wheels so now I'm going to dismount all six and switch them over to the three piece wheels. My question is; how do the firestone wheels come apart? Do I just deflate them and "unscrew" and which way?

Their is a notch or two in one half of the rim that will allow the other half to cock and slip past.
This is what they look like inside, notch not shown.

Someone has posted a link to a service manual showing the disassembly method, I can't seem to find it at the moment.

There was a special narrow pry bar with a hook-shaped end that's used to pry the wheel halves apart, but you'd need to find a commercial tire shop that's been in operation 30-something years to have much likelihood of finding one. A BIG flat-bladed screwdriver and some colorful language works, sometimes. Once the wheels are apart, please use a cutting torch or a big sledgehammer on the pieces to assure nobody gets tempted to reassemble them.

Just found this. The page numbered 10 (or 12 if you use the Adobe number) shows how to do it. And don't worry these are going straight to scrap!

OBSOLETE*: SOLID RIM; SOLID RING-RH; 5 DEGREE

1. Make sure the top bead is unseated and insert the tapered end of the lock ring tool into the notch in the solid side ring. This notch is located between the embossments on the solid side ring.

2. Push the solid side ring downward at a point opposite the notch. Force the lock ring tool handle downward to pry the solid side ring from the rim. Continue prying around the rim until the solid side ring is free.

3. Remove the solid side ring from the rim. Turn the assembly over and unseat the other bead. Remove the rim
from the tire.
