I just purchased a lower grille support pan for my '53 half ton only to find afterward that it was listed for and is for a 1 1/2 ton truck. Any chance these are the same?

Not much of a chance. The upper one is very different (found that out the hard way). Do you have the original one to compare it to?

On the big trucks, over one ton, the grilled, fenders and hood are different so I don't think the support valance is the same.

Sadly,You now own a lower grill support valance that fits 1 1/2 ton and bigger trucks.
Will Not fit 1 ton and down(dont ask)
