Per the casting number table it has side mounts. I don't know what these look like and/or if I can make them work for my situation. I have a single centered mount location. Any picture of this would help. I have a chance to get one of these motors and want to make sure it will work. Thanks | | | | Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 6 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jun 2014 Posts: 6 | Does any one know a link to a picture of this engine front mount? I'd like to see exactly what it looks like. If you have a chance to get it, just get it. | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 45 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 45 | The older engines used a timing cover for a front engine mount, that has 2 studs mounted on the bottom. Any of those older covers will fit. GRAB that engine, no matter what.

Had the car more than 40 years. Really got my heart set on doing old school. Just want to make sure I can make the mounts work. Thanks again. | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,440 Extreme Gabster | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,440 | If it is a mid 50s or later engine the mount looks like this. Earlier engines use the lip on the plate behind the timing gear cover like Chevy sixes. If yours doesn't have the lip, one from a Chevy six will fit it.

The maintenance manual has an illustration of the mount here. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/gmc/5559mm/5559mm359.htmlThe yoke on the front of these engines is missing the rubber cushion that would sit on the crossmember, and another rubber steel part that sits under the crossmember. | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 45 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 45 | I just went and looked at my "side" mount. This amounts to a bracket that is " u "shaped. It bolts to both sides of the block and at the bottom center, under the timing cover, is your 1 bolt rubber mount. This could also be modified to work for you.

It is a bit of a project to swap the timing plate as the following have to be removed and replaced.
Valve cover Rocker assembly Push rods, Lifters, Side plate, Fuel pump, Oil pan, Harmonic balancer, Timing cover, Camshaft
