still trying to figure out what gas tank will fit between the frame rails of my 46 1/2 ton, anyone done this? and what tank did you use?

Not in a '46 , but I tried 1 in a '55.1 ,the only place it would fit was between rear-end and back bumper . It was in the way of everything .the filler tube was a pain , the tail pipes in the way , brake line , I gave up and put one behind the seat ....

I got a Suburban/Panel truck tank that fits between the frame and drive shaft for my 1956 Pickup project. I put the filler door on the passenger side rear fender. I did it this way because I didn't want to lose my spare tire and I didn't want gas fumes in the bed. I plan on having a bed cover to keep my luggage dry when I travel, so one or two drops of gas in the bed would have my cloths smelling like gas...

Just another option on where to put the tank.

Here is something similar but is a bit bigger. I'm looking to do something like this for my '40. I have to do something before I drive it again because I welded up the fuel opening in the cab! I'll use a filler from a Lil Red Express that is exposed on the outside and enters through the panel below the bed. Not sure if the tank in this link will fit though. Haven't checked.

After looking at JC's description a bit closer, maybe it is the same tank as suburban/panel but includes all the mounting hardware.
