Hello I'm Gail,

I have a 1959 3200 Apache standard, step side, small back windows and long bed. My truck runs and drives and gets a lots of attention. She is just like any other farm girl trying to make it in the city. I have been lurching for three years since I got the truck. I learned all the basics and now I really started digging in. My truck is a pretty original and I plan to restore her that way. I am a handy person and I would enjoy sharing what I know and learning from all of you.

My favorite song is by Jonny Cash - boy named Sue

I'm sure you'll figure out why.

Welcome to the Bolt, Gail!
I have a '59 3200 stepside too. Right now, I'm down to the frame and trying to work my way back up.
Personally, I'm envious that you're driving yours!
I'm not even there yet and have a way to go!
I'm currently on Brakes and Brake lines. I'll get there one day!
Post some pics of yours if you have any, we'd love to see your ride. We look forward to hearing of your progress.
Jerry

Hello All thanks for the welcome!
I will definitely get some pics up soon.

Jerry I know what you mean. It sounds like you past the hardest part already, hope you have a runner soon. I am dreading the day when I have to pull the cab. For now I'm getting little peices done so she isn't down too long.

Welcome Gail, nice to able to drive it and continue working on it as you go. Hard to lose interest when it's already on the road. Nice to keep it pretty much original.

Gail, I fretted the cab pulling day as well but actually it was pretty easy.
I made a dolly to put the cab on and used my engine lift with a swivel beam 'rigging'.
I have a link below , to a Facebook Page I recently started for my 'journey'. There should be a picture of the cab lift day.
It's been done before by many on here and you have a world of help at your fingertips! There are a lot of nice folks on here!
I do look forward to driving mine but for now, I'll have to settle with cranking the engine (still in the dolly) just to keep it limbered up and bring that thrill to my spirit!

I take it that from your like of the song 'A Boy Named Sue' you are a male Gail. Welcome Gail, great truck!

A story...

I was down in my little town and seeing a great truck that looked to be in the Task Force group I naturally hurried over to take a good look. Great truck, turned out to have the plate KATES58, which I naturally assumed two things...it was a '58 and the owner's name was Kate. Lo and behold a 30's year old woman strides up to the truck and I of course asked, "Are you Kate?" She replied, "I sure am!" "That a '58?" "Sure is!"

Turns out it was originally her grandfathers truck and he, a foreman at a Chevrolet plant in Michigan ordered this 3/4 ton '58 with a dump bed! Kate was naturally very proud of grandfather and the truck.

Regards,

Cosmo

smile Thanks Gents!

Cosmo great guess and on the right track! I didn't think anyone would guess what I was getting at. Gail is the name of my truck but everyone thinks I'm Gail. Seemed to fit for some reason when I first saw her sitting there in the desert.

I have a similar story...
I rolled up on this sweet 67 C10 really nicely done. I was half expecting an older cranky gent wearing a long grey beard. To my surprise after I said "Nice truck" this very pretty lady turned around. She was as socked as I was but because of another old truck on the road in the city I guess. She was very nice, I forgot to ask her about the trucks story. I guess you'll never know who will be behind the wheel of an old truck.
