OK, I've looked but can't find it on here. I have a nice 1949 Chevy 1/2 ton truck. I don't like the doors on it. Never have. Can I use say a 1953 door that has the vent window and push button handle on it. Is it a bolt on swap or is it even possible. I cannot get the doors on my 49' to close correctly anyway. So if I can I would like to do this swap. As always my friends, thank you in advance

Yes, that door will fit as well as any other 47-55st door. Use the latch/catch for the year of the door.

In theory yes. The doors would bolt right in and you would have to use the 1953 strikers that are mounted on the cab.

In my case, and I have heard this from others, the doors I got to do that very thing were 1/4 inch bigger than the opening in the cab. This 1/4" thing isn't universal. Some fit, some don't. So when you purchase the doors, have an agreement with the seller you can return them to try another set, or something. If not, you will be real good at metal fabrication before you know it. Expanding the cab opening is what I ended up doing. LOTS of work.

My 51 3100 came with vent windows on it. Might be easier to just find a doors at the junk yard like mine.

Hello Tim and Dave. You two guys have made my day. I have been wanting to do this for quite some time. My father's truck was a 1953 and had the push button and vent windows. ( By the way that truck was what I had to date in. Heater and that was it, also 4-speed on the flood.) I will now start my search for some good doors not too far from Vicksburg, Mississippi. Here in Vicksburg we have one main junk yard. He has gotten rid of all the old truck stuff. I went and talked to him and was looking for some beauty rings for my wheels. He did find them for me but after talking to him he said he just didn't have the room and that the newer parts were what were selling. I've known him for years and he is really a nice guy. I'm sure he will help me find what I'm looking for but he won't have anything. Steven

Well, it might be if I can also use the push button latch. I just thought about it and I believe I have a set of doors off of a 1951 3/4 ton truck at my barn. Don't remember what shape they are in but the internals might be OK. Thanks, Steven

You know I have a 3/4 ton frame that's been sand bleated and painted with a black primer that they use on oil rigs. Don't know what I'm going to do with it. It's got a 4:57 rear end, overload springs and I just (before I got my 49') bought the drive shaft for it. I was planning on restoring it but got caught up in my 1/2 tom 49. You may be able to find someone with the opposite problem to trade with. I prefer the non-ventipane doors, but my solution has been to buy a 47-50 truck.

I can't afford another truck unless I get it like REAL cheap. Fixed income don't go too far. Thanks
