For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2010 Posts: 132 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2010 Posts: 132 | A previous owner put an incorrect tank in the cab of my 48. My truck has the hole in the bodywork on the right side below the bed, and what seems to be the remains of a bracket under the bed.
Does anyone have any pics or diagrams or drawings of how the tank should be mounted ?
I found mounting straps available, but not sure how it will all go together,
Thanks, Scot

The pickups and suburbans bolt up the same way. Minor differences in the tank and filler tube, also the suburban straps have additional bolts that mount to the bed. Any detail on how and where the mount straps attach? | | | | | Joined: May 2010 Posts: 132 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2010 Posts: 132 | Thanks Gmoniz, pics help ! | | | | | Joined: May 2010 Posts: 132 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2010 Posts: 132 | After looking at the pics, and at the truck again... I figured out that I am missing the front mounting bracket. I can buy the straps, but need the front bracket.
I'm also needing to confirm that the gas feed outlet is the one on the front center of the tank? And that the one on the bottom is intended to be a drain plug? I have the tank referenced above with the link to Jim Carter sells.
If that indeed is the gas feed out, is there a tube inside the tank that gets down to the bottom? Is there a screen or strainer in there too? Thanks for your help.

It runs a little more than halfway to the back and is spot welded to the bottom of the tank with no filter of any kind. We make new tanks and brackets for our in shop use only, none for sale. On higher horsepower engines we change out the 5/16 tube to a 3/8. I have internal pictures of the tanks before the last end is welded on. Will send one if you PM me.
