G,day all Just joined and checking out the pages. I have a 1946 Chevrolet "Ute" as we call them. Not sold in the US it is a sedan chassis assembled in Canada and sent to Oz and a body made by Holden. Two door and an enclosed "pick up" body. Mine is in need of restoration and a few parts missing. I have found most of what I need but have a problem with the radiator support section. I am not sure what is missing from around the radiator and how it bolts up to the fenders and inner fenders. Is there a radiator support frame? Does it bolt to something at the bottom? I am hoping that one of the members here can help. I need photos of the engine bay looking forward at the radiator. Both left and right sides and underneath as well. Any help appreciated. Regards
We see an occasional Ute here in the States, very unusual and neat vehicles. I have a 47 Stylemaste coupe, I'm guessing your car would share a lot of the same structure. My car has a radiator surround which is the mounting point for fender, grill etc. I do not have any photos showing what you need, may take a look on ebay for Chevy passenger cars from 42-48. These listings for restored cars usually have lots of good photos from all angles. If you cannot find pics you need get back to me and I can shoot some and email back. Best of luck Jim
I have looked at a lot of for sale cars and photos but cannot find any that show what I need. If you could help I would really appreciate it. All those I have seen show some in the engine bay but not the part I want to see. I need to see the actual radiator support frame from behind and below. If that is possible email them to me here. Brian, I found this site, a complete 48 Chev restoration in pictures, may show what you need. Found this online old Car Manuel project, tons of literature.
Thanks Jim I have some good photos now. Just need a dimension, or two really. If you could get me those I would be able to make a new support. From out side of frame to outside across the top and from top to bottom. Great to be able to talk to some like minded guys. Regards
