3100 Brake Problem

1950 3100

Replaced front wheel cylinders 300 miles ago. Brakes seemed to function acceptably.
Was not able to drive truck for about 3 weeks.
Took her out one afternoon and found that I had a hard pedal and brakes were dragging.
Jacked up front end of truck and found that driver side wheel was locked up.
Pulled hub and sure enough shoes are locked.
Master cylinder seems to function.
Could I have purchased a defective wheel cylinder?

could be the wheel cylinder, but also could more likely be the rubber brake line on that side, if it hasn't been replaced

If you mean the shoes were out of the retracted position then you should crack the bleeder to see if they move back in. If they move there is a something blocking the fluid from leaving the cylinder. It could be the hose or a piece of rubber form the hose could have lodged in the wheel cylinder.

Your master cyl. pushrod needs adjusting. There should be a small amount of play before it contacts the piston.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
