On my '53 216 engine, there are eight threaded holes in the block, where the manifolds attach.

I have six small clamps (four long, two short) which hold the intake/exhaust manifolds to the block. But I don't know what holds the exhaust manifold at the ends. Do studs and nuts, or bolts, go in the two outermost threaded holes in the block? I have seen pictures in the gallery both ways, and wanted to know which was correct for '53.

On a 53 there were only line-up studs, no nuts.
