The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Doors Door Operator ("Remote") Installation

On my '53 3100 truck, the door remotes are as shown in the picture below:

This causes interference when the trim panels are installed.

The factory training film clearly shows the connecting rod running through the indent in the door:

Which would seem to eliminate the interference problem.

I can't figure out how to install the controllers per the factory picture. I have tried flipping them upside down (doesn't work), and swapping left/right mechanisms (also doesn't work).

Any ideas?

Your pic is correct for the relay you have

OK, thanks. It just seemed to me to make more sense if the bar ended up in the recessed area, rather than the way I have it now. So, I guess there will be a little bit of interference with the back side of the door panel, when I have it all together.

There is supposed to be a foam spacer glued to the door to keep the relay off the back of the panel.
