This years class adopted my 59 viking to repair.I was thinking 2 weeks became eight months.So... we repaired brakes, wiring, carbo, generator and gave a cosmetic touch up.I gotta say not bad compared to the first photo i took for the gallery(see to believe)I am so proud of the effort they put forth! Then came the day I promised to drive it home 55 miles one way. With phone cams going off i went from the school with cheers from the senior techs and my fingers crossed i hit the Atlanta traffic hwy 85 to hwy 285 to I-20 east at the incredible speed of 55 mph! i feared the fingers would fly but all i got was thumbs up whew what a relief! as with any trip a few things began to occur. The questionable speedometer had a terrible demise and departed breaking the needle and the generator decided to charge then not charge still on the quest she traveled onward with the windows down but the cab floor heat was terrible so in a moment of need i pulled open both floor vents.. whooosh went the leaves dust dirt it was funneling out the open windows looked like the a small bat colony exiting the cave! I could hardly see but never slowed down i had leaves dirt debri in my hair eyes ears everywhere all I could do was laugh at myself after everything we repaired never doned on me to clean the vents......Good news there are very clean now! And the old girl made it in almost flawless.I never cease to be amazed at what novice techs can accomplish.
