Does anyone know what bushings I would need for the rear of my '46 half ton leaf springs or have cross reference numbers? Also, if you know the front leaf springs cross reference numbers, I'm sure that will be next. smile

Thanks!

You can look it up at RockAuto... then order there or look elsewhere.

This is what you are looking for,

https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail/6387/Chevrolet_Shackles_Rear_12ton_34ton.html

Here is a list of front end parts,

https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/dept/Truck/cat/200T/Front_Suspension_Components_Shocks_King_Pins.html

Check with all the venders in the links above for price options.

The inner piece is threaded and should just unscrew out, either way. Top and bottom are both the same. The ends are held in the shackles by a taper, so a quick rap with a hammer breaks them loose. Be sure to support the truck by the frame rails and only high enough to rake the weight off the springs. Don't over tighten the center bolt, just go enough to seat the tapers and ever so slightly bow the shackle plate. The bushing it self is pressed into the spring and frame mount. In the tech section, I believe there is a tip for making a tool to remove and install them.

Tee,

Just beware, I ordered new bushings for mine and they came slightly larger then the old holes. I was told to just crank them in, but that just messed up the threads on the bushings. It required me to take the mount into a local machine shop and have the holes drilled slightly bigger.

Just a thought since mine were labeled correctly from chevy of the 40s.
