| | | | Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 98 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 98 | OK. Here's my problem. I have a '52 3100 with the original speedo in it. The tranny is a '54 SM420 4 speed. The speedo gear is in the tranny and the cable housing is connected but there is no end to the cable connecting it to the gear in the tranny. I can't seem to find a cable that specifies it's for a SM420 in the description at any of the normal parts locations (Classic, ..of the 40's..., Brothers, LMC, etc). Can anybody give me an idea what cable will fir the application and where I might find it? I appreciate the help.

About 70 on back should fit. Measure the length & match it up or a little bit longer. I prefer the metal caseing. Some of the specialty suppliers have it that way. If your caseing is good you can make up the core with a speedo core kit.

The Carquest number turned out to be CA-3004. It has the threaded coupling on the speedo end instead of the press on connector. Installed it, works fine.

But this purchase was about 4 years ago.
