While installing a new oak bed on my '53 resto-mod pickup, I noticed that one of the 2 wires for the gas tank sending unit is very loose.
It attaches to a small brass pin and the previous owner has just crimped on a roundish wire connector. (The second wire is a blade-type connection and seems very secure.)
There must be a better way to connect to that round brass pin. And I can only imagine the hassles of reconnecting it if it comes off after I've finished the oak bed.

I hope this helps. It is not expensive and you do get a new heating element if you can use it. Any way The same connector is used on the brake light switch and the lighter. And it will work for your sending unit. Mine is threaded so It took a minute to figure what you had. The E mail pics were very helpful.
