I've checked Classic and Jim Carter for a 1946 Chevy truck harness and the best price that I've seen is $235. I need a source for the $150 harness.

Looks like they are $235 at Jim Carter.

Classic Parts of America does not go back to 1946.

American Classic Truck Parts is $230.

You probably know that. Did you see someone post a $150 price for a 1946 truck?

Some of the above vendors might have "terminate your own" kits for around $150 - the Filling Station has a couple for $166.

There was a post back on March 16th, I think, titled $149 vs. $449 Wiring Harness, and a responder had said he used the $149 harness and it was easily installed. Maybe his was a different truck at $149. You're right, $235 is the best I've seen for a '46.

$149 was probably referring to Advance-Design trucks (yes, it was in reference to a 1950 truck)?

Be sure you specify Gen or Alt on whichever harness you get.
I have the J. Carter and it is a good looking harness.

Looks like the AD harness is the $150 price, just putting one in my 53 and don't see why it wouldn't work in the 46. I'd compare schematic for both trucks. May be a couple things different but easy to change. Good luck

Hey, '41 Flatbed, here's some advice from a guy who learned the hard way that sometimes going for the cheapest version is the wrong thing to do.
Previous owner of my now fully-restored '53 resto-mod went for the cheap $150 harness/fuse panel by a company called Keep It Clean. We left it in while doing the restoration because all of the wiring worked just fine.
I was on my maiden shakedown cruise when the smoke started billowing from under the dash. I pulled over to the side of a busy highway and put out the fire before any damage beyond the greasy smoke. One corner of the fuse panel had melted.
We then replaced ALL of the wiring over the next couple of days and put in a $500 harness/panel from American Autowire. The quality difference was night and day.

Those Classic Parts and Jim Carter harnesses are well-made.

The lengths of the runs to the front lights might be shorter than you need, if the earlier fenders are longer.

I've been working too hard and long lately, Charter bus driver, and no time to get any thing done on the '46 project, or even answer responses.
I do appreciate the effort everyone makes in helping out. I'm going to go with the Jim Carter harness as soon as the Spring Rush of tourism slows.

I have a task force harness from Classic Parts. I am a novice on electrical but the instructions were very easy to follow. It was also a match to all my original wire gauge. Not bad for a economical harness. Though I did have a few critiques:
1) Headlight harness was missing the headlight bucket grommet and there was no way to swap in the original.
2) There was no through the fender grommet for the head light harness but I was able to re-use my old ones (I had to take the connectors off both old and new to get the grommets off/on)
3) The wiring for the cluster lights was short.
4) There was a point when I was wiring in the blinker harness to the main harness where I had to get creative with the connectors.
5) I very politely called customer service to find out if I got a headlight harness with missing the grommets. The woman became very indignant and told me they have been selling their harnesses for 20 years and I was the first to ever complain and she went on for a while. After all that she told me I could buy headlight harness separate with the correct grommets for an additional $24.

For less than $200 it was well worth it. I don't know much about the models prior to task force but it might be worth the trouble to retro fit as opposed to spending double some others that would require customization anyway.
