I purchased a complete front end rebuild kit for my 54, and tried to install. Had problems and took it top my local GoodYear mechanic and had it installed. Steering is much better but steering wheel is crooked (bar is not horizontal, tilts from 10 to four o' clock). How do I fix, or do I go back to my buddies at Goodyear?

I'm not sure if the length of the drag link (goes between the steering box and left front knuckle) on a '54 is adjustable or not. If it is, lengthen it or shorten it until the wheel is straight. If the length is fixed like on earlier trucks the only fix is to remove the steering wheel and clock it until it is centered.

First I would make sure the wheels are pointing straight when the steering box is centered. After that, adjust the wheel itself.

Drag link is not adjustable on a 54.

I agree with Tony M.

If you are currently able to turn your wheels all the way to the right and all the way to the left, then do the following:

1. Point the wheels straight ahead.
2. Pull the steering wheel and line up the crosshairs, then tighten it down.

If you are not able to turn your wheels all the way both directions, you should disconnect the drag link then center the pitman arm then reconnect the drag link and re-align the steering wheel.
