For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 47 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 47 | I have an am fm radioin my '51 1/2 ton. The static is ok when I'm idling, but the faster I go the worse it becomes.
I hear there is some "loop" thats suppose to eliminate the problem (something about the coil interfering with reception). Could someone tell me precisely the brand name and model of what I need to install, does it come with simple pictures and instructions, and is it easy enough to do without an engineering degree?
Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,517 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,517 | I think its called a condensor,,or resistor type spark plugs. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,464 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,464 | Easiest fix is probably going to be a set of resistor type plug wires. Don't forget to change the one from the center of the dizzy cap to the coil.
There are noise supressor capacitors that can be installed too. You can probably get these at Radio Shack. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 47 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 47 | Waldo, Ah!! OK, thanks. I didnt have this problem tillI changed the plug wires. The originals probably were resistor type.
