I pulled the heater assembly from under the hood of the '60 GMC. I understand how to get the heater checked, (by dipping and pressure check), but I think the blower motor may be bad, it was not connected to anything but it is kinda hard to turn. How do you test the motor to se if it turns?

thanks
Jake

if you can't spin it easily by hand, it needs to come apart and get cleaned and lubed - you can check it by holding the motor case against the ground batt post, and touching the wire to the pos post ... might just spark and grunt if it's semi-siezed up, but even if it runs, being hard to turn manually means it needs attention

Amen to Brother Bill. A word of warning: IF your motor somehow becomes "unbound" and you are connected to the battery, get a grip! I thought mine turned a little too slowly, so I did what Bill recommends. I was unprepared for how fast that squirrel cage spun. It makes quite a whirlwind with 12v across it!

Take the time to clean and lube the motor bearings.
