Does the pulley on the water-pump line up with the pulley on the crankshaft? Is it a short-shaft water-pump?

Thanks, Tim. Yes, the pulleys line up. It just looks a bit weird in the photo. I don't think it is a short shaft, but it has been pressed farther back on the shaft. I had to cut off about 2/3 of an inch the PO left sticking out.

I get the exhaust manifold back from the powdercoater tomorrow, then it will be assembly time! Next up, wiring!

Sir, You are making great progress and were smart to drop the oil pan and clean things up a bit. Please keep sharing your progress.
I am planning to drop a '58 235 car engine in my '52 'Burb and found a local machinist who has the head and putting hardened valve seats, new valves,and such for $300. Not sure what it will be to rebuild the short block but planning to have that done too.
I'll be checking my metalworkers progress this Saturday morning. He tells me that he is 90% done the frame off metal but I figure another 200 hours for final paint and several years.

Taking a HUGE jump forward...The 'burb is now a driver! first drive It only took two weeks from my last post to get it there! I didn't get to drive it to Daytona for the rod run, but I did get to drive it! I had to chase a few Gremlins out of it before I felt comfortable driving it around. It was overheating pretty bad and the left rear brake caliper was locking up on it. Fixed those issues and now I'm having problems with my LED lights! I think I have to change out my alternator, at least it's easy to get to! I've had it out to two local shows and it has been the hit! Who would have thought that a wrinkly old Suburban with a straight six would draw so much attention?? The fun part is having my kids and a few of my friends riding along with me. We look like a circus clown car when we pull up, with all the people getting out of it!! So much fun! Check out my other pics on p'bucket of everything going together. It's been a lot of fun!

Thanks! Still a long way to go, but not bad for a 10 week thrash! Alvin, I sure am glad I followed along with your post and went ahead and put the rear sway bar on while I was under it. I can't imagine what an ill handling beast it would be without it!

I haven't posted in a while, so here is a quick update on the progress of the 'burb. Basically, I've been driving it as much as possible. It has taken a little while to get the steering sorted out as well as a few other minor details. I broke the welds on the rearend while doing a smokeshow for some friends.:D That won't happen again, I welded them up GOOD this time! Most of my time has been spent doing a bunch of little things. I'm finally going to take it on it's first long trip next Saturday. Daytona bound! Here is a current shot of it... Daytona ready. I will post again with any worthy stories of that trip.
