There are several numbers on the motor. Here is a good example...
Casting number locations Not shown in the picture above is another number stamped on the flat surface to the left of the distributor. On my truck this number read F1011A. Is that the number you are referring too? If so, try to find your casting block casting number and then reference it here...
Casting number lookup Once you find the year ranges for that casting number, look at the engine serial number link. That will then show how the numbers on the flat surface map out. The first letter is the plant, the next 2-4 numbers are the month (in my case, Oct 11 (1011)) and the last letter indicates the usage (passenger, truck, etc).
When I first started my research, none of the engine serial numbers matched the year range of the truck (1952). As it turns out, the motor is from 1958-1962 range.
