It got me to wonder if there is a manufacturer/aftermarket supplier of a ready to drop in open rear?

I have a 59 so can't say to much about AD series, but wonder if a 54 or early 55 would just swap in, I may be mistaken but I think they were open drive shafts not torque tube rears.

The biggest thing for me is getting it all located correctly on the spring brackets and getting them welded properly. And you are probably right about Currie.

drop a later open carrier into your housing. Lots of options
available then.
