For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 10 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 10 | Not sure whether to go with Clifford intake manifold, with Weber carb and Clifford headers on my '52 GMC 302, or stock intake, Fenton headers and stock Holley carb…
Any advice? New rebuild job, getting ready to re-install.

'55 Chevy 261 Jobmaster. I'm very pleased with the results. Helped performance, and fuel mileage!! | | | | | Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 10 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 10 | What are you using to heat the intake manifold? Exhaust or Coolant?
Thanks!

Is the stock Holley you refer-to an AA-1 two barrel?

Yes, the stock is the Holley AA-1 two barrel. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | I know two people with "built" 302s and Fenton headers and the original intake with AA-1 carb with adjustable jets.
One will soon have his rebuilt 302 run on a dynomometer (to determine hp and to tune the carburetor). He has special pistons that result in higher compression than stock.
I am using a GMC 302's AA-1 carb on my 261 (bored to about 270) and is is very nice and it is easy to adjust/tune the add-on adjustable jets.
If you will not be using the AA-1, consider selling it in the Stovebolt.com Swap Meet (with its air cleaner).

I had to use tubing a little longer than the ones provided, though. The engine performs well, but it will perform better, with the added 1-wire (100 amp),alternator, and HEI "dizzy". I "run" stacks behind the cab, mounted to the frame. They are available from J.C. Whitney, sold as replacements for "MoPar's "Little Red Express". The price is right, and they look/sound GREAT!! Hope this helps.
