After reading with interest about grief with repop tanks I was wondering if anybody had GOOD things to say about a new sender unit from one of the usual suspects - I mean suppliers. While four wheeling last summer the one on the '59 ceased to work. I have run out of gas twice now and it's starting to get embarassing!! I have checked the wires from the sender to the gauge and although some portions of it were 16/2 drop cord the issue seems to be in the sender. I thought I might try to fix the old one but it never was all that accurate anyway. Anyone got experience with this? Thanks - Jeff

I installed one in my 57 - I think it was from Carter - works fine, just needed some float arm adjustment [ie: bending] to suit the gauge

If you have a multi-meter you can test your existing sending unit. Put your meter on ohms. Touch the red probe to the wire stud & ground the black probe to the case. Your sending unit should show 0 +/- ohms in the empty position and 30 +/- ohms in the full position. Replacement sending units are $50 so it's worth checking your original out first. You can find multi-meters for $10-15 or less.
