I have all the working parts but a key. My locksmith is stonewalled. The cylinder is in the locked position so it can't be removed from the housing, there are NO numbers anywhere to give a hint as to a code and etching attempts to produce a key by trial and error have proved frustrating and fruitless!!

I would think that a good locksmith could come out and get it going...it would be the same as taking the ignition to him.. I may have miss read, you do have it out already,, if so a good lock smith should be able to fix it.

I lost my key for my international, took the whole deal out to the locksmith,, bingo,, new key.. no problem

I have a blank key but no code to use for cutting it so it will trip the switch and send electricity to the starter. It's the code I need help with.. There are no numbers on the cylinder or it's housing. I'ts an original set up.

Once the cylinder is out a locksmith can make it work on any code.
If the cylinder isn't removable in the off position they are simple locks for a trained locksmith to pick & turn to the run position. If there isn't a locksmith in your area that can pick locks you can try contacting a repo outfit in your area. Most have folks trained in picking locks and could most likely get your ignition into the run position where the cylinder could be removed. Good luck.

On my '46, the key does have to be in the run position to remove the cylinder.

I also suggest taking it to a different locksmith for a second opinion. It is smooth across the top and turns the tumbler. You may want to try this if you have an old key.
I plan to take the tumbler out of my 53 and have it keyed like my 55 2nd. I will do the same with the door lock. Probably put a door lock on the drivers door, too. I did that on the 55.
Just a suggestion.
