What engine are you working with? | | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 298 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 298 | i am running a 235 6cyl. i am looking for cast iron auto. 1953-1954 chevy car | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 1,248 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 1,248 | I've thought about that conversion myself. I've been told the cross member would need to be removed or modified where the clutch housing mounts are now. You'd probably have to change to side mounts on the 235 engine and possible fabricate or modify the rear mount for the automatic.... As far as the rest yes the torque tube is the same length in the 1/2 ton pickup and the car. You'd probably also want to change the ring and pinion to a 3.55 ratio over your 3.90 or 4.10....
