Hi Folks,

I am going to Tauranga, New Zealand for a few months to work on a salvage job off of the North Island. Was wondering if there are any Stovebolt members near there? One of my hopes is to see and actually touch a UTE and any other classic Chevys and cars during my visit.

Also looking for any classic car related events in the Tauranga area that if I am lucky and the salvage tug I will work on is in port, I hope to go check out.

If any Stovebolters are in NZ, give me a shout here.

Thanks and Cheers!

Keith,

You are in NZ? How cool. I need to get a picture for the index page of something other than ice and snow for all of us on this continent.

smile

Have fun. Hope you see lots (take pix!).

Keith you could do worse than contact Willy Pelzer (kiwiwilly) He's based on the North Island in Wanganui.
He's a nice guy and i'm sure he could point you in the right direction.
If he's not too far away from you,you should check out his COE,it's stunning.
Good luck on your travels.
Edit: Just checked,he's 320kms from you.....About 4hrs drive.

Hi, Jerryatric, and welcome! I have a good friend in Henderson, near Auckland, who visits us in Tennessee frequently. His family owns a very nice 1925 Dodge 1-ton truck that they drive in parades, etc. I'm planning to spend a few weeks with him, hopefully in the next year or so.

Here is Willy's 1948 Chevrolet COE from the Gallery from 2009.

Here is his 1959 Chevrolet Apache submitted February 2008 with his matching little camper.

Wow. Cool pictures. Beautiful place. Looks nice and warm! smile

The only old truck you found was a Ford? Liked the VW bus and bug. Looks like a great place to dock for a while.

The drains are only for rain - does that mean "no trash!"

Neat photos. Thanks. Will wait until you find a Chevy or GMC! hahaha

Hi Peggy,

Have seen a few older Chevys in the area but they were on the move and I didn't have the camera ready. There is a southern cousin to the Chevy and GMC truck here that are built by Holden. These trucks are referred to as UTE or Utility. Will try to photograph a couple of those when I can.

Cheers!

Keith,

Cool. We have a few UTEs come thru the Gallery. Always thought that was a cool term.

Yes, see what other neat photos / videos you can get.

Hi Peggy,

Had hoped to make it to a local show here on Sunday but we have orders to head out to the wreck site in early afternoon.

When I do get out to a show or gathering, I will definitely take many photos.

Cheers!
