I have a 1950 Chevy 3/4 and need the tire carrier for under the bed. The only part I see remaining is a track under the bed that is about 3 feet long and is right behind the differential.
I've looked in the assembly manual and can't find this track. Is this track part of the tire carrier?

I have an opportunity to purchase a 1953 3/4 GMC tire carrier. Will this fit? Is it the right one?

I would imagine that it is similar to the 1 Ton, if you have the 17" wheels. This is well illustrated in the assembly manual. Basically there is at least one or maybe two pieces of channel attached to the frame. The carrier runs on a diagonal form one of the spring mounts (hanging form a bolt) to the other side of the frame at the back. All the illustrations that I have seen show only a rim stored there. I don't really understand why they carried just a spare rim but I would guess that the whole tire assembly would not fit.

Does that mean that the spare tire carrier is only for a rim? I'm just trying to restore my truck and when I got it the tire/wheel was just sitting in the bed of the truck. Would like to get it where it's suppose to be.

Anyone out there have a 3/4 ton that could share what their carrier looks like and is used for?

Thanks,

Mike
