Hey all, I'm new to this site. I just bought a 55 chevy second series half-ton. I'm not new to old cars, but this is my first truck so to speak. I had a 30 Ford roadster pick-up, not quite the same, and I currently have a 54 Chevy and a 50 Ford club coupe. The 55 is fairly solid, I just want to get the mechanical things safe. I'm from the Pittsburgh area and I am in a car club called The Blacktop Cannibals. I've started a list of things I need to do and I know I'll be here with some questions I'm sure!

Greasymatt, welcome to the Stovebolt page. Sounds like you are familiar with vintage iron and besides learning a little here I'll bet you will have much to contribute.

For the questions just remember to ask them in the most appropriate forum such as engine questions in the Engine Forum and so forth. Lots of knowledge and great folks here and we try to keep it family friendly.

Post up a pic when you can and visit often. Soooo much here in the tech tips, gallery, and links to about everything. Join in the discussions and see you around the garage.

.....and if you keep watch I'm sure you will find some bolters that are close to you.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

Welcome Matt, does it have the V8? You've come to the right place, lots of info, if you can't find it just ask. Good luck with it.

Hey Matt,

I'm from Pittsburgh also and am working on a 54 chevy 3100. The shop that's working with me is also working on a 55 resto-mod. Let me know if you need anything.

I am from Cranberry and I am almost done with my 49 Chevy 3600. You may have seen it in the tribune review last July. Anyway, send me a pm if you need any help
