For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 165 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 165 | Guys......I have the opportunity to purchase a 36' 1/2 ton Chevy truck with motor (RWIPI) that and has all the cab and forward metal. Rusty but not too bad. Being a Colorado truck with its dry climate, it doesn't seem like much, if any, will need replacing. But it has no bed.....
I know this is very subjective but is there a price which would say BUY YOU IDIOT to you? I am thinking about $1500 but have NO clue what this thing is worth. I would keep it myself and am not interested in re-selling so please if you have anything to offer here I would greatly appreciate it. I am NOT into beating people down on price so keep that in mind.
For those of you wanting pictures, I can do a lot of things but this ain't one.
Also if this belongs in another forum let me know!
Thanks for any and all advice. Scott

When I buy an old truck that needs to be totally torn down and all parts worked on, I won't pay more than that. You always run into more problems than you expect, such as 'it runs' but you find out it needs a $2,300 rebuild. Carl

In my opinion, if it is all there except for the bed, it is not a complete rust bucket with a rotted frame, I think it would be a good deal at 3000. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | ....remember a 36 also has some wood in the door hinge area and maybe other places. I think that is a decent price but I'm not looking at it either. You can buy a complete bed assembly which is probably less costly than trying to fix and old one these days. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 165 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 165 | Thanks guys - a good deal at $3K is a great starting point. Anything wood is easy for me as that is what I do. It is also good to know that getting a bed is an easy option as well.
All the metal really is in great shape. I think I'll have a talk with the owner to see what we can work out. If the deal doesn't work for me I will let you in on it to see if anyone out there is interested.
Thanks Again

I didn't know there was a difference which I why I asked the question to begin with. I will attempt to find out. I'm about 6'4" so I guess getting in the thing will tell me what I'm dealing with.
