Don't know the name either, but I've gotten them from restoration specialties in PA, they have quite the selection of trim accy's, and an online catalog..

those are sheet metal flange nuts, should be able to find some at NAPA or other FLAPS, probably on the 'Help' rack

Thanks

The restoration referenced above calls it a flanged pal nut
Ill try the flaps now that I know what to ask for

I hope I don't have to buy 100 of them
I think I need size 12-24

The hardware store I use usually has a good selection of odd fasteners but didn't have that one.

In another life when I was a body man we called the speed nuts.

That is also known as a tinnerman. There are variations of tinnermans, Most common are the flat Speed nuts and the clip/J or U Speed nuts. If you don't find them where Bill has stated; McMaster Carr has them under "Spring Speed Nuts/Flange Speed Nut. $7/100!!

Small quantity: Dorman 45571, Summit and others. (4 for $2) They call them thread cutting nuts, may or may not work. Dorman has many sizes. This is 3/16 (.187), closest I could find to 12 (.216).
Autozone has Dorman assortment 961-330.

You know Home Depot and many others have the flat speed nuts that can be used on sheet metal or machine screws. Those will work just as well, albeit not "original". Maybe I'm just a hacker but I use regular hex nuts/nylon locking on emblems if they have a good thread. Some emblems need a push nut.

Isn't using a flat washer with a Nylon Lock Nut the same profile? Fits the same? I'm not seeing a problem in the pic. If you are trying to be original, I understand.

The studs are also threaded into the emblem

Just helps with removal and install to have that type of nut
A lock nut could drive the stud into the emblem face and possibly dimple it

More for convenience

You can always depend on McMaster Carr Gus. And you can keep it accurate by using the proper hardware.

Just to clean up this thread

I went to my local carquest and asked for the above nuts
Of course they refer to them as something totally different, and at first didn't know what I was talking about

But the did have them on the rack.
4 bucks

...They call them washer lock nuts at carquest...

...another pic. SKU number...

Nice not to have to pay shipping.

Now, on to trying to save the original emblem on my Dads old truck.

Thanks for the responses...guess I should of just checked the flaps in the first place (good call Bill) At least the info is out there now for the next guy
