Where is a good place to get a complete set of parking brake cables for my 52 3600 rears and front)? Any places have better quality?

mapleleaf,

I bought a 1954 1/2 ton set from Classic Parts about three years ago. It was clamped together improperly. It could not be installed until after I unclamped it and then reclamped it in the correct orientation.

At least one other person reported the same experience. I do not know if the problem has been remedied, or if it even is a problem for 3600 cables.

Finding brake cables for old trucks other than the 1/2 Ton can be a problem. Some members have taken the end fittings to a place that will remake the cables. I think Inline Tube may have this service.

Here is a thread that might be helpful. Parking Brake Cable I think you might want to talk to Jim Carter as he may be able to help you.

I've had a number of cables made by this company, I've been more than satisfied. I use the branch in Roseville Minnesota.

Don,
how much of your old cable assembly did they use? For non 1/2 Tons, this is a very important topic.

The last one I had made they only used the clevis on one end. Some of there ends they use don't look like the original but they function as required.

I purchased parking brake cables from Jim Carter many years ago. Something sticks in my mind about having to reuse a small part from my existing cable set up and weld it onto the new cable setup. Maybe some one else can recall what that was? Jerry

Patrick at D & D Antique Auto Parts had a set of N.O.S. parking brake cables for my '48 Loadmaster 1.5ton. He charged me less then $75 for the set delivered. You might take a look at his www and see if He has yours. BTW you will need to know your part number.

Thanks..tried them no luck. Thanks for the lead tho.

Looks like Inline Tube wins this round. Not cheap, gonna pony up for the SS cables, worth it here in the rust belt. They pulled the 52 lines diagrams to make these, apparently they are different from the 49 (I suspect Huck vs Bendix)that they have on Fleabay. I had a good used 52 cable, we went over the measurements 3 times.

Appreciate all the input folks.

Let us know how they come out. I was lucky enough to be able to
save my cables and they have worked fine for the last 9 years
but the day will come that I'll need to replace them and it
would be good to find someone that could reproduce them.

Sorry to be so late getting into this thread ML. I used the Inline Tube stainless cables on my 56 3100 some time ago, and they fit and worked perfectly with no mods. Hope you have the same luck with them.

Dale
