I've got 2 3600 frames and the mid frame muffler bracket (with that holds the long metal strip and eyebolt that goes around the muffler) is broken off on both.

Were these commonly removed or did they tend to get busted off?

I'm wondering if it is worth looking for another one.

I think they were broken off due to the fact they are fairly thin and stick out a ways from their frame attachment. Here is one from my 50' 3600 which was in place on on a 54' vintage frame I purchased.

The restoration/rebuild is now underway. Using Jeff Nelson';s frame. Frame first, cab second.

Actually that muffler bracket is pretty sturdy. The one on my
50, 3600 has obviously been on the truck for a good long time
and is as solid as a rock. I could dang near hang from the
muffler.
I had it off during the engine rebuild and replace the asbestos
insulator that was on it with some Refrasil Silica-Based Insulation:

The bracket and strap are available as reproduction parts,
Chevs of the 40's for instance.

funny about the asbestos, the old fishermen here used to wrap in freely around a lobster boat engine's exhaust, which was usually a 235 with a straight iron pipe going up five or six feet off the marine manifold..no one was concerned about it.
