I opted for steel line from the tank, along the frame, to the rubber hoses that sweep up to the engine. Since putting that in, I've had to remove the tank once or twice. Mind you, this is a 1951 Suburban. If you went hard line from the tank forward, you would have to give some thought to maintenance. Does the pickup come out of the top of the tank. The sender comes out of the top of tank. If you have an in tank pump, that will have to come out of the top of the tank ( as is the way my set up is.) So, with your truck, you'll need to ask yourself, will I want to drop the tank to maintain it? Or will I want to remove the bed? On mine, I can get just enough clearance to disconnect the fittings. But if I were to do it over again I would probably use hose as removing a Suburban body is not an option and having hose there would make dropping the tank so much easier.
