Exactly.
Teflon tape and other "thread sealents" are for sealing tapered pipe threads.

Flared fittings seal at the flared part metal to metal, all the threads do is clamp that metal to metal seal. There should never be fluid at the threads on a flared fitting if it is sealing properly, and therefore no requirement for a sealant.
